I need to update on my recent and current reads!

  • Guyaholic : a story of finding, flirting, forgetting ... and the boy who changes everything by Carolyn Mackler - a decent story. It is about V - niece of the main character of Vegan Virgin Valentine.
  • The lacemaker and the princess by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley - a historical fiction book about a young girl who befriends the Princess of France shortly before the French Revolution.
  • Gossamer by Lois Lowry (audiobook) - I liked this story, though wish it would have lasted a little longer. I'm surprised it is considered Teen, though.
  • Silent echoes by Carla Jablonski - I'm reading this now, and am about 1/3 through.
  • Looking for Alaska by John Green (audiobook) - I just started listening to this.
More later...it's time to go home!

Update

Hello from Philly!!

Several days ago I finished My Mother the Cheerleader. I need to write a proper review...later.

I just finished Beastly by Alex Flinn. It's a modern day retelling of Beauty and the Beast - from the Beast's viewpoint. It was well done. From the beginning, I didn't like Kyle. To put it bluntly, he was an arrogant ass. But after he is transformed into a beast, he slowly begins to change into a decent person...one who must find a true love to break the beastly spell.

I'm hoping to pick up a great (free) book over the next few days. If not, I will just have to wait until I get home and can grab a book off the evergrowing pile.

Tantalize by Cynthia Leitich Smith

Vampires. Werewolves. Hmmm...that sounds familiar.

Oh, yeah. The ever-popular Twilight series. That's why.

This book was OK. I wanted to know how it was going to end. I was a little surprised as to who the bad guy ended up being....but barely. It was rather predictable.

If you want a vampire/werewolf love triangle type of story, skip this one and go directly to the Twilight series.
