Chester (series) and The Surprise

Chester written and illustrated by Mélanie Watt.

Chester is a big cat with an attitude to match. While his owner tries to write a story, Chester interrupts with his own very noticeable additions done is red marker. Children and adults alike will crack up at the banter between Chester and Mélanie.

Chester's back! written and illustrated by Mélanie Watt.

In this delightful sequel to Chester, the fat cat is back and ready for his close-up. As usual, he doesn’t like the author’s rendition and puts his red marker to use making the tale how he wants it. Another wonderful story in this series that is sure to be a hit among children of all ages.

A third book about Chester has been published, titled Chester’s Masterpiece.

The Surprise by Sylvia van Ommen.

In this wordless picture book, Sheep makes a very personal gift for his friend Giraffe – a red sweater knitted from sheep’s very own wool. This adorable book is a sweet story of friendship.

When I placed this book on hold, I wasn’t quite sure what it would be. It held true to its title. It was quite a delightful surprise! While I’m not able to use it for storytime, I will be taking it to my next knitting group meeting to share with everyone there.
