After the Kiss by Joan Johnston

This review is by guest reviewer/blogger Sharon.

After the KissThis book tells the story of Eliza Sheringham who is rather outspoken and due to a scandal, not really accepted into society. But she is taken under the wings of a good friend and taken into society where she is the cause of a scandal and the gentlemen (the Beau) involved will not offer her marriage. Her cousin offers for her, but before anything can be done, he and the Beau are called off to war where her cousin is killed. The Beau is disfigured in the war and will not participate in society and when Eliza comes to him for a job, he agrees to employ her, but only if she will marry him as he needs heirs.
