Shade by Jeri Smith-Ready.
It should have been the best night of their lives, but it ended in tragedy. Teenagers aren’t supposed to die. When Logan dies the night his family’s band is courted by two different record labels, his girlfriend Aura is understandably devastated. Though Logan is no longer alive, he isn’t really gone. Aura – like everyone born after her – is able to see and communicate with ghosts.
As Aura becomes closer to the new student, Zachary, she is torn between letting Logan go and staying with the one she loves…even if he is dead. Logan’s frustration at being unable to do the things he could when alive grows deeper, putting him dangerously close to becoming a Shade – a dangerous entity with little limitations.

Fast moving and interesting. Love triangle is well written. The world is exactly like here…other than the ghost factor and the changes due to it.

The second book in the series is due out in May. Yay! I can’t wait for Shift to arrive at my library.
For older teens (9th grade & up). There is talk of sex and drugs.
